Why We Only Use Non-Toxic Cleaning Products

Hi there! I'm Angie, the owner of The Well Loved Home, an eco-friendly cleaning company serving the Denver metro area.

I started The Well Loved Home because I believe something pretty simple:

Our homes should be places that take care of us.

They should feel calm. Comfortable. Fresh. Clean.

They should be places where you can kick off your shoes, curl up on the couch, make a meal for the people you love, watch your kids play, and let your dog take over the living room.

Home is where so much of life happens.

And I believe that how we care for our homes matters.

A little bit about why this matters to me

Before I started The Well Loved Home, I trained as a holistic nutrition therapist.

That work taught me to look at health a little differently.

Of course, what we eat and drink matters enormously. Clean, nourishing food, good-quality water, movement, sleep, and all of the other little choices we make every day can contribute to how we feel and function.

But over time, I began to see that wellness is bigger than what's on our plate.

It's also about our environment.

The air we breathe.

The products we use.

The things we put on our skin.

The spaces where we spend our time.

The surfaces we touch every day.

And when I started looking more closely at the products we use to clean our homes, I realized there was an opportunity to do things differently.

That's where The Well Loved Home began.

Your home is part of your wellness

Think about how much time you spend at home.

You breathe the air in your home every day. You touch your countertops, floors, furniture, bedding, and bathroom surfaces. Your children play on those floors. Your pets spend a lot of their time down there, too.

And then there are the cleaning products themselves.

Many conventional cleaning products contain ingredients that have raised concerns among researchers, including certain fragrances, phthalates, PFAS, bisphenols, and other chemicals. We are continually learning more about how repeated exposure to different substances can interact with our bodies and our environment.

I'm not interested in making you afraid of your cleaning products.

I'm interested in giving you another choice.

Because if we can clean your home beautifully without relying on ingredients we don't feel good about bringing into your space, that feels like a very worthwhile choice to me.

So, what does “non-toxic” actually mean?

This is where things can get a little confusing.

“Non-toxic” is a term you'll see everywhere these days. But it isn't a magic certification, and it doesn't mean a product is somehow completely harmless in every possible circumstance.

For us, non-toxic means intentional.

It means we don't simply choose a product because the label says natural, green, plant-based, or eco-friendly.

We look a little deeper.

We consider the ingredients.

We consider how the product is made and how it's meant to be used.

We think about the people and pets living in the home.

We consider the environment.

And, most importantly, we ask ourselves:

Is this something we feel good about using in our own home?

If the answer is no, we don't use it.

It's really that simple.

Does non-toxic mean less clean?

Absolutely not.

In fact, this is one of my favorite things to tell people.

You do not need harsh chemicals to have a beautifully clean home.

Good cleaning is about much more than what's in a spray bottle.

It's about knowing which product to use, choosing the right tools, understanding how different surfaces need to be treated, and using the right technique.

We care deeply about the details.

The fingerprints on the light switches.

The dust along the baseboards.

The crumbs hiding underneath the toaster.

The bathroom fixtures that need a little extra love.

The kitchen counters that should feel fresh and ready for the next meal.

We want your home to actually be clean.

Not just “green.”

Not just “natural.”

Clean.

A little gentler on the people and pets you love

One of the things I love most about this approach is knowing that the products we use are thoughtfully chosen for the homes we enter.

Children touch everything.

Pets live close to the floor.

We all spend our days touching the surfaces around us.

That doesn't mean that every conventional cleaning product is dangerous or that every natural product is automatically safe. It simply means that when we have a choice, we want to make a thoughtful one.

We believe there is value in reducing unnecessary exposure to ingredients of concern, particularly in the places where we spend so much of our lives.

And we believe you shouldn't have to sacrifice a sparkling-clean home to do it.

Because wellness isn't about perfection

This is probably the biggest lesson I took away from my work in holistic nutrition.

You don't have to do everything perfectly to make a meaningful difference.

You don't have to eat perfectly.

You don't have to eliminate every chemical from your life.

You don't have to create a perfectly “clean” home.

Life isn't meant to be lived that way.

Instead, we can look at the things we do every day and make small, thoughtful changes where they make sense.

Maybe that's choosing better food.

Maybe it's drinking better water.

Maybe it's opening the windows and getting some fresh air.

And maybe it's choosing a cleaning company that doesn't bring harsh, unnecessary ingredients into your home.

Small choices add up.

This is what “well loved” means to us

When I chose the name The Well Loved Home, I wasn't thinking about spotless houses.

I was thinking about the feeling of home.

The homes where dinner is made.

Where muddy shoes come through the door.

Where babies crawl across the floor.

Where dogs leave hair on the couch.

Where friends gather around the kitchen island.

Where laundry piles up and life gets a little messy.

Real homes.

Lived-in homes.

Loved homes.

We aren't here to make your home look like no one lives there.

We're here to care for the home you actually live in.

And we believe that care starts with what we choose to bring through the front door.

Our promise to you

When we clean your home, we want you to know that we've thought carefully about what we're using and why.

We choose products that align with our standards for non-toxic, environmentally conscious cleaning.

We choose effective tools and techniques so that your home gets genuinely clean.

We consider the people, children, and pets who call your home theirs.

And we continue to learn, question, and improve as we go.

Because your home is more than a collection of rooms.

It's your sanctuary.

It's where you rest.

It's where you nourish yourself.

It's where you make memories.

It's where the people—and pets—you love most feel at home.

And we think something that important deserves to be well cared for.

That's the heart behind The Well Loved Home.

A cleaner home.

A more thoughtful way to clean.

And a home that feels as good as it looks.

Because your home is well loved.
